If the radio is 403-425, everything else is a moot issue. The radio will not work on 450-470.

The different band splits have many different components. The parts and labor to rebuild and retune the RF circuits would far exceed the value of the radio. It may be possible to move the radio a few MHz above the original split but that is as far as you can go.

F1 is on the foil side of the board on the board edge near the power supply components. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you a PDF of that area or the board.

Re: TK 270 Programming

The power is 1 watt and I need 5 watt. Can I change this, The default function programming on the 270 allows the user to switch power from high (5W) to low (1W) with the Right Arrow (>) key that is above the "A" key. If this function is programmed, the display will show "LO" whe...

Codeplug is Motorola's term for the data file that is written to the radio during the programming process. The term is used loosely on here for the same function on other radios. So "codeplug" refers either to the programming data in the radio or an archived file on a PC of that data. If s...

There is no limit on how many times you can reprogram if it is done properly. But, writing data to the radio is always risky if anything goes wrong during the process. If you are attempting to run DOS software under windows or even windows software on a PC with other programs running or your cable c...

Get the proper antenna and do not use an adapter. The additional stress on the radio antenna connection from the adapter will probably break it sooner or later.

Stick a wide blade screw driver in the slots above and below the mounting bracket holes and pry. Be VERY careful when inserting the screwdriver blade. If you insert the blade too far, you will damage components on the circuit board. Use a wide blade and insert it only far enough to catch the edge o...

It has been a while since I worked on an Orion and I do not have a manual but I beleive there is a programming option for "hookswitch". If this function is enabled, it will inhibit scanning if the hookswitch line is high and enable scan when it is grounded. If you do not have or need the h...
