Re: Kenwood TK-8180 Out of Band

Thanks for the response. Many Kenwood models will operate without difficulty well
outside their rated frequency spread. When entering frequencies out-of-range you're
correct about the software sayings it won't take but you can over ride this. Thanks again.

Kenwood TK-8180 Out of Band

Anyone have any experience while programming 440-450 MHz (Amateur) frequencies into a TK-8180 with a band split of 450-512MHz. I would like to program a few frequencies in the TK-8180 and wanted to find out if there is any degradation of receive or transmit quality for the mentioned frequencies. Tha...

Kenwood TK-8180

Wondering if anyone knows what the default RF power level is when the drop down
menu is selected to "LOW"? Is it 5 watts? Also can this HIGH/LOW setting be directed
to a function button so that the user can bring up a HIGH/LOW power level on demand?

Re: TK-760GH scan not working??

Typically when a "beep" is heard, it notifies that something is "disabled" or either the SCAN key is mis-programmed or if only ONE channel resides in the scan list. There are two ways channels can be added to the scan/delete list. IN USER MODE: First off (if the user's commands h...

The FCC Line A Regulations were established during the WARC 79 conference, (World Administrative Radio Conference, 1979) and are meant to protect Canadian Land/Mobile operations near the US/Canadian border from interference. The frequencies you mentioned (462/467.6500 & 462/467.7000) are co-loca...

I can tell you that the newer TK-370G models (128 channels) are capable of operating without degradation on transmit or receive quality at about 12 MHz above and below the listed frequency range. Actually my 370G is loaded with half of its channels with 440MHz frequencies. The software will allow th...

I'm not sure what you mean by "it just consistently beeps". If you power up the radio, it can be programmed to generate a confirmation beep to indicate power on condition. Just one "beep". There are times if the data programmed in the radio are NOT acceptable (as in programming o...

Some aftermarket cables have been problematic with many users trying to program Kenwood radios. I have both aftermarket and OEM cables and the OEM tends to work better. All programming using the software you mentioned is done on computers running WIN95 and WIN98. Processing speeds on newer computers...

I'm trying to remember what I did here with my Kenwood LMR radios that displayed "UNPROG" in the past. First off I'm thinking there might be some incompatibility issues with older radios newer software, newer radios older software. All cases that I came across with that message "UNPRO...

Keep in mind that is very typical for many of the field-programmable units that Kenwood LMR radios to have done. It's usually a hardware modification (snip a diode or placing a zero jumper in place) and "ENABLEing" the software so such sequence can place the radio in program mode. Unfortun...

First off, the Kenwood TK-760G and 860-G are similar in every way aside from the 760G being VHF and 860G being UHF. Since these radios are both capable of up to 128 channels, you obviously need to have at least 2 channels programmed to have the "scan" feature work. You need to be sure that...
