Re: TK-840 Password
You cant read the radio without the password but you can overwrite the data without knowing the password.

Re: GMRS scramble
Your rhino doesnt have any scramble capability. It does have digital squelch, this does affect the audio.

90 series power
Does the 90 series have a programmable high and low RF power setting?
I love my 30 series but I really hate to be at max power when I am talking a few blocks

Re: TK-830 programming
First off the tk-830 software is dos software, You need a nice slow machine with DOS, Not DOS in a window, Not dos on XP.
YOu also need a real serial port, no USB ports since DOS isnt going to support it.
With that said find on old 486 or PI laptop, $20 on ebay and use it for your programming.

Re: 730 prgramming issues.
I was actually using the jdta version in the 730, but when i moved the jpwg version over I got my sql working.
The 830 got the older code and works well with the 32 channel head.

Re: Programming a TK-240D
Are you programming it within the specs of the radio or trying to go into the ham bands? I found some 240D will not go into the ham bands some will. Usually you would need to shift the vco a bit to make them work in the ham bands.

I have a tk-730 with a remote full 160channel head. I am trying to program the sql button but no matter what button I assign to the sql button when you press it the back lighting goes out. I dont even see where backlight off is an option to assign to any key at all. Any idea why its happening?

Using info here and elsewhere I found the parts and cost. Mouser has no minimum order.
Mouser .062 plug housing 538-03-06-2152 $ .58 each
Mouser .062 contacts 538-02-06-2103 $ .10 each
