Sorry Alex;
I didn't take it that way.

new set of 5100 questions
Using PC Configure 1.28.0.8
First, let me say, this is a LOT easier than a lot of other RSS I have used.
I do have a question, though...
how do i rearrange order of the zones?
The way I put them in, isn't how I'd like to use them, now.
thanks,
Shawn

Kawamall on eBay is selling the serial version for under 30.00 brand new... You can get a PCMCIA card serial port for about 20 shipped.

Re: EF Johnson radio tracking policy
hm do they mean, there is a s/n registry from the birth of the radio, or are they meaning they can't tell where that radio got sold? A certain other manufacturer of raydeeoos had a similar issue, and they just threw pounds of what they felt were 'junk' radios into a garbage can, or sold for scrap. T...

Re: Help Please 5100 series
You are on the right track. If you got one of the surplus AN/PRC-127's, you got one digital zone and one analog zone. You can program those to an extent, like putting in a single repeat or simplex channel, but you can't add a zone, or do any of the neater features. For that, you need a programming c...

voice inversion encryption?
I have wanted to add the rolling code version to a portable I already have (but doesn't have as a factory option) for a long time now. I have *not* wanted to pay the price they want for one board (which never made any sense to me - for the price of a single flylead board I could almost buy two saber...

Re: POLL === You like yours EFJ 5100 Series radio? ===
My background: my first moto portable had crystals in it. I have owned radios from pretty much all of the major brands sold in the US. The EFJ 5100 rocks. Plain and simple. It should have motorola worried, but they are too arrogant to care. Especially considering the newest (APN/Y? I forget) won't u...

Probably the most ignorant 5100 programming question ever
Hi... A long while ago, I got a GOOD deal on one of these 5100s. Had no need to talk wideband VHF, so I stored it away. Now, there are some P25 portables I want to talk to. I am used to the moto way of programming things, and this keypad prgramming on this just, well, kind of throws me. Is there a c...

Re: 5100 Series crypto question
No, that's pretty much it. I have the equipment to program and keyload MTS radios. I am guessing it works with the XTS series, I haven't had anything offered to me to test it with. I just got a 5100 VHF, and don't relish the idea of playing thumb programmer for a bunch of personalities (Channels, wh...

Re: 5100 Series crypto question
Ok, next dumb question. As part of a project, I was promised a couple of the programming cables. Instead, I get 023-5000-940 keyloader cables. 1 - Would it be easier to try and find a copy of the Subscriber Management Assistant Keyloading Kit program, or should I just whack one to work with my moto ...

New System, New Problems
Hi!
I am used to programming radios, but have no experience with the EFJ units.
What is needed to program a 5100 series radio? Which software package? is there a RIB-like device? I can't find any on eBay, can one and the appropriate cabling be had cheap?
Thanks!!
-Shawn

5100 Series crypto question
Can a motorola key loader be used with this series of EFJ portable, or is there an EFJ - specific keyloader I need to use?
Thanks,
