Re: Orion remote to dash mount
Not sure what you did, but it does work. Simple, and yes all it does involve is attaching the control head via the "ribbon cable" to the socket. I just did this with two Orions yesterday, didn't have to make any programming changes at all. Used the same personality from a remote Orion to p...

Re: GE Rangr 820 control scan head
That's a good question. There was a time a few years ago where I thought I knew just about all the ins and outs of the Rangr and S825 control head, but I never looked into powering any accessories with it (because it wasn't going into an emergency vehicle). If you have the S820, which is the basic m...

Re: Problem with MDX mobiles
I'm having this problem too. Power on the radio, the whole thing lights up on the self-check, and then it goes blank. Can't get it into program mode, so I can't check the feature data. Took the head apart and cleaned stuff, still same issue.

Re: Orion dashmount conversion to remote mount (Scan to System)
Very easy. Never done it with an Orion, but I have with a few MDX's. No need to change anything in ProGrammer. Just get the kit (hope you have good luck or deep pockets) and swap it over. Here's a brochure with info and model numbers on the remote-mount kit. Like I said, these aren't exactly falling...

Re: Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB
In my many years of screwing with GE stuff, I've never heard of it even being in the realm of possibility.
But I suppose with enough wire, solder and patience anything can be coverted to anything!

Re: 150-174 MDX into ham band?
Thanks Ken.
I'm selling all my MDX's and "moving up" to Orions now. I can't wait to try and re-learn a whole new line of radios. It's amazing how much is different. I've been using MDX's for almost 10 years...

150-174 MDX into ham band?
Anybody know if you can program a PMH4SA (150-174) GE MDX into the 2 meter ham band? I'm using EDACS4 ProGrammer.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Coverting an MDX (Dash to trunk mount)
Hey everyone. Well, my quest for the holy grail of an MDX remote mount kit has finally come to a victorious end. Now I need to know if I can take the parts radio I just bought (trunk mount) and my good MDX and start taking off face plates and blocking plates and just swap stuff around to make my das...

S825 Power Cable?
Does anyone know where I could get the black/yellow power and speaker cable for the S825 control head? I have everything I need to piece together an working S825/Rangr setup except this piece. If anybody has one or knows where I can find it, let me know!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thank you Meatball. I've come to the conclusion that the radio has been toasted. I do have it mounted right in front of my floor heating duct on the hump. As of right now, it's just not putting anything out. I purchased a used KMC to replace the MDX for now. Just need to update my ProGrammer revisio...
