Re: TK-5210 Firmware Update?
So will this firmware update that allows P25 ID's work on a Version 1 radio? I have ver 1.18 firmware and it adds all of the advanced features except 2 tone encode. If you have a unit with software based DES, or AES then you would want firmware 2.xx for the advanced feature. Some of the features ga...

Re: Kenwood 3140 Low Battery Alert
A friend of mine dropped his 3140 handheld the other day, and now no matter what fully charged battery we put on his radio, the low battery alert activates and then resets the radio like you are turning it on. Has this happened to anybody else, or does anybody have any ideas before I start taking i...

Re: Icom IC-W2A strange crossband repeat problem
All, I'm trying to use an Icom W2A as a crossband repeater (extended receive mod followed by F-2 and F-Enter; VHF as main band). All seems to go well, except that the radio doesn't seem to transmit any PL tones in this mode. When I transmit out of crossband mode, the PL tones are transmitted fine, ...

Re: Kenwood LTR portable recommendation?
The radio shop I am soon to be hired for (part time) owns and operates a rather large LTR UHF system (450-470). Since the majority of the system portables and mobiles are all Kenwood, I'd like to take the plunge into their commercial equipment. I'm more familiar with Motorola radios than Kenwood, s...

Re: Desk mic problem
Not a common problem with the KMC-9's. I assume you have corrected this problem, but if not can you give me some details. Is the mic plugged into the radio, or an extension?redbird wrote:I have a KMC-9C desk mic with no mod. Is this a common problem and what is the cure?

Re: Icom IC-F80DT opinions
I just got a F80DT, and the P25 TX audio is very bad. They have a problem with the gain on P25 from the local mic, but it is OK with a sp/mic. I have Moto Astro Sabers, XTS3000's, 5000's, Kenwood TK5210, and EF Johnson 5100's all P25 (on both VHF and UHF) without the poor P25 TX audio. Jonathan can ...
