TK-790/890 crossband setup help
OK so I though I would build up an interface so I could crossband my 790 and 890. No problem (I thought) I got a drawing of an interface I used for some motorola radios that had worked for me before. RX and TX audio, and PTT aren't a problem, kenwood unlike the motorola the COR goes high (open) inst...

FT-2800M No TX
Any one ever had any problems with A FT-2800M not transmiting? I just bought one that was a tech special, so I knew it had a problem. I was hoping it was a bad ptt switch, but nope, it is something inside the radio. when i checked for 4.99 V on the PTT line there was none. also made sure it had a go...

Re: 690 out of band?
soory but that spilt wont work. the radio is 10Mhz wide. to bring it up into 54 mhz you have to modifty the IF board and adjust the PLL circuit. check WA1NVC.com for instructions. not very hard to do.

does anyone know the type of power connector Kenwood uses for the 90 series radio, both high and low power radio, it has the square pins. would like to buy some after market ones, instead of paying 37 dollars for a new cable.

Re: Kenwood TK-2170/3170 Field Programming Option
field programming Kenwoods sucks :( . unless you do it every day forget it. i sold my KW Ht and bought a Bendix king, if you are in the fire service it is much easier. down side you dont get all the features. but life is easier. I would suggest buying a cheap laptop, keep it in the truck and program...

Re: 90 series power
the tk-x90 radio dont have a user selectable power level. there is an option though. removw the pot on the power board, solder in jumpers. the build up your own board ( it wont have to be very big) this board will need to have two pots, one low one high. this use a small relay to switch between the ...

Re: Tk-790 Power on

I do this when ever i am installing a used radio, or one that doesnt come with the KCT-18. plus now you hav the plug and p...
