Programming high and low power channels

My VX-3000 seems to be permanently stuck on high power (40W). It was programmed when I got it, and since then I have read the code plug: From the main menu: CE19 for VX-3000 -- v 1.20 Serial No 12345678 Spacing 10/12.5/15 KHz File 123456.V3K Privilege Dealer First IF 73.35MHz Split Simplex Freq Band...

Re: Two VX-3000Us, RX fine but 'burp' and cut out on TX

I got it working. It was a bad connector. Actually, two bad connectors - one on the power supply, one in the car. With both radios acting the same way, I knew it had to be something simple. The fact it didn't work on the wire currently powering my Motorola SM-50 (which has always worked) threw me fo...

Re: VX-160 question from a new guy

If one of your two radios transmits further than the other, it's obviously some kind of problem specific to that radio. Even a radio with blown finals should receive normally, so if neither of the radios transmits further than the other, could that be an antenna problem? What is the condition of the...

More symptoms

OK, so when I got home I just had to play with it, and found something even more interesting. Once again I keyed up on low power and it sputtered, rapid fire like tat-tat-tat-tat. Then I realized the noise was also coming from the next room. I looked over and the TV was going nuts, with full screen ...

Re: vx-6000 is at 70w what do i have to do to get 100w?

Just curious if that's 70 Watts into an antenna, or into a 50-Ohm dummy load? If your wattmeter shows forward and reflected power, then you can calculate the standing wave ratio (VSWR) of your antenna. My Workman SX-144/430 for VHF/UHF has two needles, crossed, so that one shows power out (forward) ...

Two VX-3000Us, RX fine but 'burp' and cut out on TX

A few months ago, I bought a couple of VX-3000U's from a large lot on eBay. At the time, I tested them for RX/TX, then put them away until I would have time to play with them. Now I am finding that receive and tone decode is fine, but they do not transmit, though I remember they did earlier. When I ...
