Re: MRK upgrade

You would be better off looking for a UHF radio. Trying to mod a VHF to go to the UHF range is like trying to take a Volkswagon and trying to make it into an 18 wheel truck. Non of the tuned RF circuits in the radio would work. All the RF sections in the radio will need to be changed. Being involved...

Relm RH256NB diagram needed or RF antenna switching section

Have another radio problem. Radio took a lighning hit. Seems like the pin diode antenna switching isn't working. RX has about 1000 microvolt sensitivity. TX doesn't show any output on a watt meter.

Can't see any change in the DC bias on the pin diodes between RX and TX.

Midland 70-1336 programming information needed

In need of information on programming a VHF mobile model 70-13336.

Where does the programming cable connect to the radio?

Which software is used to program this radio?

Thanks,
Jim

Guess you haven't spent much time working on any GE radios and had to do much programming. The PROM programmer may be fine for one or two channels, but when you need to do all 16, it gets to be a pain. Takes too much time and too easy to make a mistake.

Re: Another Ge Rangr question...

You shouldn't have to do anything except play with the VCO adjustments. There is one for the RX and one for the TX. Program up a control head and download to the radio or get the EEPROM programmed in the radio. Have fun. The low band does have some image issues that you learn to live with. I am told...

Why not just use a simplex channel or the output of the repeater for simplex. That way your not fighting a desense problem for radios next to each other. Has worked great for better than 70 years.

Re: reply jim

I see that you indicated that you have the GE software. Have you made up any cables to be able to program up the Ranger? I have been looking for the interface and the cable info for some time now. I know that onew of these days my suitcase will go belly up. I bought it brand new way back about 1978 ...

Re: Ranger

Sounds like your getting a little testy. Calm down. There are limited methods to program the GE radios with the EEPROM you have. You did not indicate which control head you have with the radio. Some of the heads like the S950 , S990 and the S825 series all can be programmed and then downloaded into ...

Re: Mobile receiver overload?

Just about any radio will have some overload problems under the right circumstances. Even the top end Motorola radios will do this. So don't feel like your all alone. The stronger the signal your trying to listen to the better off your going to be. The further away from the other people's frequency ...

If your talking about the old GE mobile telephone type MRK II radio, the terms narrow and wideband channels hadn't even been thought about back in those days.
