Re: 5300 Programming Nightmare

Has this been resolved yet?
There are no compatibility issues reported with RFguys cables for any 5300/5400 radio/firmware combinations (and they've been sold for years) so please let us know if you still need any assistance!

Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode

Thanks.... so it is a "feature" after all - I guess the software assumes that 9600 baud means you're programming an older radio. Well, that's one way to check! Makes more sense than assuming you have a 800MHz radio if you're programming on a Wednesday - but just barely! So I suppose these ...

Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode

Thanks again for the help with this, the PCConfig you recommended seems to work fine for programming, but there's one issue that I've never run into before that perhaps you've seen: As you mentioned, it seems that the 9600 baud setting is required for these radios (the PCC help file mentions this to...

Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode

Thank you for the info I.S, much appreciated! Yeah I know... it should have been obvious that EFJ's very first issue would be called "rev 4" with 5.x based code. Of course, how intuitive! I'm trying to standardize about 30 5300's but it seems that each and every radio has a unique file for...

Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode

Any EFJ experts have an idea what to use for a 242-5317-101-AAAB with (ancient?) firmware... This firmware must be quite old since there is no "normal" power up version displayed, just the "EFJ * V200" panel FW, with no self-test or power-down display sequence either. Radio has p...

Re: Looking for EFJ Avenger GX mobile

The GX's can be hard to come by.. if it's any help that radio is exactly the same as the Key / Kyodo / Sawtron KG-208 and the Grundig / Plettac MT-118E.

Re: Johnson 53SL Mobile radio programming cable schematic?

The 5300 series requires an EFJ RS-5300-specific RPI box and cable, or a cable with internal circuitry since the radio communication bus is RS-485 (not RS-232 like the 5100). If you use the discount code "RIFS" on rfguys.com, all-in-one cables with built in circuitry are $99.80 with free s...

Re: NEED PROGRAMMING CABLE FOR 7176

Cables are easy to find on Ebay, or from RFguys.com. If you use the discount code for this board (RIFS) shipping is free.

Re: Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB

It would be pretty easy to emulate a basic Motorola RIB for some of the newer radios by using a GE interface, but not the other way around. The Motorola bus is a variation on the RS-485 differential bus standard, to varying degrees depending on the radio model. The GE interface signals are quite dif...

Re: RS-5300 Programming Question (v2.8.15)

Just as an FYI... We currently stock 5300 programming cables (no RPI required, i.e. "RIB-less" all in one RS-232 to radio cable) for all of the EFJ configurations (HHC, Lightning head, keyloader, etc. cables too). If you refer to this forum by using discount code 'RIFS', shipping is free. ...

Re: EFJ 5300 HHC programming pinout?

Hi All!
I'm still having no luck finding the 5300 HHC programming adapter pinout (or the pinout of the 10-pin connector on the bottom of the HHC junction box).

Someone must have a manual for these things! EFJ will "neither confirm nor deny..." (as usual)

TIA!

Looking for a Niles programmer...

Hi Group!
Anyone have an old Niles programmer they could part ways with? Cables or not, tested or as-is okay. (the one that does NLS/Phoenix/Delta etc...)

Buy, borrow or rent? If so, email me please!

Thanks,
Andrew
