The shop you talked to is not totally correct. If you have a radio that is not feature encrypted for any digital modes (AEGIS / ProVoice/ P-25) and you program it with a personality that has it properly selected, you will get a digital voice error on some older radios and on newer ones DSP Error.

Which version of Programmer do you have? I'm using R15C which is the latest release and haven't had a problem with that.

The current release of M/A-COM programmer is R15C. They have added support of P-25 and EEA (Edacs Extended Addressing) in this release.
