TWO WAY COVERAGE

I am using TK 840 as my radio base station, my antenna is about 35 feet high, and i am using LMR 400, after 8-10 miles i get a lot of static, i was wonder what do i need to do to get further and better quality? there aren't a lot of tall building around me and i am using 450-470 band. OK, I AM AMAZED WITH THE RESULTS AFTER I USED THE LMR400. I STILL GET SOME STATIC IN SOME AREAS BUT WHEN I GO FUTHER THE STATIC GOES AWAY, SO I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS CAUSING THAT. BUT I GAINED AT LEAST 5 MORE MILES THAN WHEN I WAS USING RG58.

OK I BOUGHT 75 FEET OF LMR 400 AND ADDED 10 FEET TO THE HEIGHT. NOW I AM ASSUMING I SHOULD GET A LITTLE BETTER.

I have the same problem with 4 of the tk 840, i thought i bought a 450-470 mhz radios but i bought 488-512 mhz band. my radio shop said he can do it but it would be more than the radio's worth and he would have to change major parts but no you can't just tune it, it won't accept it.
