Have you thought about mounting the trunk mount radios under the rear seats or on the rear seat floor. Just make a sheet of 1/4 plywood to go on top of the radios and then put a rug over it all. Works great, have don it to a number of different trucks. You can even mount the radios on a sheet of ply...

RH256NB programming info needed

Have a RH256NB radio. The instructions for the normal RH256 don't work on this radio.

Any one have the instructions? Brinkley site doesn't have this model radio listed.

Re: An unlikely source

Once in a while I see ebay has some 128 channel GE Phoenix radios up for bid. These radios have 8 each of the EEPROMS in them. They are kind of rare, but they do flow through the system. Keep your eye open for them. When I do see an auction for just the EEPROM, the price goes right through the roof....

Mike, You have my interest up on the fet mods in respect to the IMD. Just what did the mods change. Have a couple of these units still in service that it would be nice to clean up. You also made comment about the S-950 heads with a ham flash. When I was still playing two way service on these radios,...

Re: Hey Mike, next time...

Forgot to add one more comment about the LB Ranger radio receiver. It is very prone to intermod and images. I would be able to hear wireless phone while driving down the streets years ago. Could hear some of the local PD and fire coms on the ham frequencies at times. If you don't mind hearing strang...

I have been using the Ranger and the Delta on 6 for about 15 or 18 years now. Yup the older Ranger PA output filter doesn't like the 6 meter band very much. My solution is not the best, but what I did was just bypass the whole filter. Ran the output direct to the antenna connector. Turn down the out...

Re: GE delta question

I have seen some radios where the micro was replaced with the wrong one. The best way to get info on your radio is to locate the circuit board number. Look on the inside of the radio with the control cable connector pointing towards you. The micro is the large IC in almost the center of the radio. T...

Re: GE Phoenix Question

I think your refering to the GE Phoenix SX radio. This radio is fully software programable. You can build a switch box and manually do it or you can find someone with a "suitcase" programer and do it that way. If you open up the radio, there is an IC with some long pins beside it. This is ...

Re: GE Rangr S-825 S-820 question

Ken,

Is there any chance you have the wiring info on the program cable for the S825 heads? I have one around here that I made about 14 years ago, but now can't find it.

Re: NEED program info for GE/RANGR

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but a simple question. Is the radio a Ranger or an EDCA Ranger? The age is important here. If it is one of the old Rangers, then this is all done in the control head. Like the S950 or S990 control head. If you have the older version of the Ranger and have the...

Re: MPI II mic gain

Did you ever think that the deviation may need to be adjusted? Those radios do have a separate mic element, but it doesn't go bad very often.

Re: suitcase programmer

I have mixed emotions on which way to go. If you get the suitcase, don't forget that you will need to make sure that the PROM's are installed in it for the radio families that you will want to program. The Phoenix s and SX, Delta S and SX, Ranger, S950/S990 control head and what ever else you may ne...

Prospect62, Programming the S825 head takes some skill. It has been about 8 years since the last one I programmed. One of the things that comes to mind is that it is confusing. You need to get the software to save all the information that you think you have saved. I would have to go back and try to ...
