I have not been impressed at all with the DX radio. All the ones
I have had to play with were real bad with intermod RX problems.
To put it in simple terms, their RX is trash. It hears failrly good,
but rolls over in a high RF environment.

ICOM F33GT software issue
Just received some new F33GT portables. The software I have CS-F33G rev 1.1 won't program the radios. The rev of the radios is 2.0
Does this mean I need newer software and where should I obtain it from?

Depending on the age of the head, you could also run into a problem with the older ones having a dead battery. The battery is a computer style battery mounted behind the verticle board inside the head. If the head has this battery, it will do flaky things. I do know the scan will go dead until you r...

Re: 450-470 Duplexor
You would do better if you listed the combination numbers or the
package number. Probably both idf you had them.
The FCC numbers are about as good as the weather for most radio techies.

F521 scan setup help
Trying to get the scan to work in a VHF F521. It seems I am missing something simple to make it work. The manual is not very user friendly in the steps you need to take to make the radio scan.

Why do you want to remove the 500 milisecond hang time after you release the PTT on the transmitter? Anyone that uses CTCSS in a radio system knows that you need to send the reverse burst to mute the distant end receiver. If you don't send the reverse burst, you might as well go back to carrier sque...

Re: EFJ Ascend Portable Radios
If your talking about the 5100 series portables, they are easy to use, easy to program and take considerable abuse. These same radios are used by the military with a slightly different internal version. They have encryption built in. The software is fairly simple to use once you get use to it. The p...

Re: Log VHF Radio without Identifier
Unless the person is the FCC with a court order, they have no legal claim to take your radio away. Many agencies try this move, but it doesn't stand up to any legal test. Ask to see in writing where they have the legal ability to take your radio. As far as the radio finger printing goes, yes the tec...

Asking for software is a bad practice. Asking about what program is needed is fine. Your just asking for information and not the actual software. If someone has jumped your case about asking what program is needed, they are acting out of place. Kind of a fine line that some get over excited about. R...

Re: RANGR Programming (?) problem
First of all the busy light needs to be off for the head to start scanning. if the busy light is staying on, one of two conditions are present. First, if the squelch is sett too low, the receiver thinks there is a signal and the busy light comes on. Normally you will hear open squelch noise out of t...

Kind of a bland question, but hope your trying the programs in a true DOS mode and not from the promt inside WINDOWS. Try using a DOS bootable disk in the A drive. Jim [quote="rsmitt54"]My new laptop will not program my radios with the old DOS programs. I guess I'm looking for the Windows ...

Install a comunity repeater control panel and you could have all 32 standard CTCSS tones as well as the digital codes. The tone that comes in will also go out or be changed depending on how you have it programmed. Jim [quote="jsikora"]OK, That I think is right, bu I want 2 differnt PL's on...

Re: EFJ 5300 series RIB
The EF Johnson RIB has a small box that a 9 pin serial cable plugs into and on the other side is a flat ribbon cable with a plug that goes to the mic connector on the 5300 mobile. Works great, just be careful that you don't break the mic connector on the ribbon cable. It is rather different and will...
