Re: VHF 5100 rev.4 radios with bad RX boards/faulty SMDs...

Excellent. I had one of these fry out like that just out of the blue. I was driving along noticing there was no traffic and the RX sensitivity was crap. I was lucky enough to have a friend with connections help me out through his shop or it would have cost a small fortune.

If you search the board there should be a diagram and a thread about it.

Re: PRC-148 MBITR PC Programmer

Yes, the PRC6809 is the "Clear" MBITR with only DES encryption but they will only sell it to agencies, not individuals.

Re: EFJ 5600 P-25 repeater by ADI (no CW id in software)

Haaa... so I take it to mean it's a heap? So far in testing at the house it seems to work pretty well and it is definitely chock full of features. It appears that RELM and various other people still sell this design but just rebranded. I downloaded the software from the Australian company but still ...

EFJ 5600 P-25 repeater by ADI (no CW id in software)

I managed to get my hands on a strange item a couple years ago on ebay. It's a small card slot type repeater made by ADI but marked with an EF Johnson part number (242-5600). efjohnson.com/PDF/Manuals/5600-P25ServiceMan.pdf I managed to come across some software for it that is called DMR-25 Programm...

Re: Thales/Racal Difference

There were two versions while under the RACAL name -501 and -503. The 503 is newer and will accept 8.? version firmware whereas the 501 has a different lower numbered revision. They made a few RF antenna port changes and other smaller improvements in the -503. As for the Thales, I don't know. I woul...

Re: Stealth25 Programming cable

From what I recall the only difference between the Stealth 501X series and the newer 5100 cables are a swap of pins 2 and 3 on the DB9 side. You might try to swap them just in case the diagram is labeled wrong.

Looking for the MIBTR / AN/PRC-148 CABLE DIAGRAM

Anyone have a diagram for an MBITR cable. I have one but I'm not sure it's correct. I believe it should be a simple three wire pass through deal but I don't know for sure.

Re: Programming Cable

The EPH stuff should be available under the files section of one of the BKradio or BK_radio groups.yahoo.com sites. If you lay the radio on its back the pins closest to the table would be the ones you want to short out for hand programming. They are the farthest to the back on the top and farthest t...

NDP... I saw the Airforce One documentary a few weeks ago where the guy was out in front of the parked plane with an MBITR and the wideband 90-512 whip.
