Re: EFJ 53SL power connectors

They are GM/Delphi/Packard (take your pick) Weatherpack connectors. Pretty common in the engine compartments of 20+ year old GM cars, but not so common in the radio world. You'll want: -for a power cable: --2 pin Female connector shell aka tower or turret + female pins for 12ga wire + blue seals -to...

Re: Who wants 5300 accessorry connectors cheap?

OK...I THOUGHT it was the 98xx. anyway. good info to know should I decide to buy a bulk lot of weatherpacks :) Anyone have an interest in the female (radio side) connector? Might be useful to make "in-between" cables if you have a company installed radio and want to make a M-F interface ca...

Re: Who wants 5300 accessorry connectors cheap?

Aha!
Thanks for the clarification I.S.
I knew I'd seen a "9-something" with the same connector.

Much appreciated.

FWIW I have a 100W 5300 here...it's the same accessory connector as the 50W ones I've seen. 8-pin JST SM series.

Re: 5100 Battery Contact problems

I did some cleanup on the battery connector...the "divot" turned out to be minor, mostly a burned spot. I did open up the radio and inspect the connection from the battery contact to the board...a bit worn, but otherwise OK...might tin the pad on the board. But, I'm now thinking it's not t...

Who wants 5300 accessorry connectors cheap?

I just made a bulk purchase of the accessory connectors for the 5300...I believe these also fit the 98xx series(?) I'd like to offer them to those on the forums first...and of course I'd like to recoup my investment. So...If you get with me BEFORE 15March, you can have 3 connectors + 30 pins for $10...

Re: MODEL STRING DECODE REQUESTS ONLY

242-5318-201-AAAB 242-5112-888 Further research shows 242-5318-201-AAAB 4 was already decoded...so it shouldn't be much different - so what's the last "4"? VHF 50W remote mount, P25 conventional, no encryption? re: 242-5112-888 From a previous post by I.S.: "888 was their old designa...

Re: 5100 Battery Contact problems

The part you are looking for is DES/LOC A035 PN 585-5100-017 hmm...what's the likelyhood this is the same part as the XTS5000 battery connector, moto p/n 0985973B04 ? ref: http://www.wiscomm.com/MotoCatalog/XTS5000.pdf That should be VERY easy to get ahold of locally. moto also makes a disassembly ...

Re: 5100 Battery Contact problems

Great! Thanks for the info. I'll give that a try-carefully.

EFJ shows Comtech as the repair center in Columbus. Interestingly, Comtech's www site makes no mention of EFJ...

Thanks for the recommendation for J & K. May give them a try if I can't find someone in Cleveland.

Re: 5100 Battery Contact problems

Hey I.S. Thanks for the info! Any tips on disassembling the radio? I'm thinking there must be hidden screws somewhere...? On second look, the "divot " on the battery contact is only 1-2mm deep...MIGHT try to build it up with solder as a temporary fix. And on anther second look...the dealer...

5100 Battery Contact problems

Hi, ...new guy to radioinfoboard, but electronics tech for 20+ years... I recently purchased a 5100, 242-5113-310-GF. The radio would lock up anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes after turn on. Seems to work fine otherwise, haven't checked xmit on-air yet. Looking at the 3 battery contacts o...
