RS-5300 Bad Fl Fmt Error

Hello all...

I have an RS-5300 mod# 242-5325-801RAAB4 100w radio. Used PCConfigure 1.28.0.8 software to program the radio. We also have 3 RS-5300 mobiles (think that they are 40w radios) The 1.28.0.8 software worked fine with them and like an idiot I assumed that it would work with the other radio as it was an RS-5300 as well. Wrong.

The software will read the version info and this is what it says:
File Format Ver 5.9
DSP Software 4.6.2
Controller 4.6.6
Hardware Revision 0.2.0
Boot Load Ver 4.0
SEM Ver N/A

I have another RS-5300 100w radio identical to this one that I have not touched due to this error. I guess what I need to know is :
1. Do I have the correct version of PCConfigure
2. What do I need to do to try to repair this
3. Can I make it to where I can use the 1.28.0.8 software work on this radio.

I find it strange that you were able to write to the radio using that version of PCC, which only supports File Format Version 5.8 radios, and should have prevented you from writing to that radio.

With this said, I believe you need to use a 2.4.x+ PCC, read the file in and then write the file back out to the radio to correct it. I don't know exactly which version corresponds with v4.6.6, but anything above 2.4 but below 2.6 should work.

There is a matrix which shows which FW require which version of PCC, but unfortunately, I don't have that. There are some on here which may know.

For this radio you would need PCC 2.2.2. I would recommend an upgrade to the latest firmware due to bug fixes and many feature enhancements including the enhanced vocoder. 4.14.3 just got released. Which would need PCC 2.10.1

For this radio I would need the version info to tell you which version of PCC it needs.

Turbo is right, what you are seeing is a Bad File Format Error and is firmware versus PCC mismatch.
