Is there anyway to tell the difference between the two antennas. They dont appear marked.
Reason im asking is i have a UHF and i think it has an 800 antenna on it and it seems like reception is off.

If you look at the bottom of screw in end, the 800mhz has a white ring. The uhf will depend on the split.

Re: 5100 UHF vs 800 antenna
You know after reading this again, I think I was remembering their old 800 only antennas. They had two white rings on the top of the antenna. So I went and pulled this out of an old service manual
136-174 wideband Helical (Red Core)
136-151 Helical (yellow core)
151-166 Helical (black core)
166-174 Helical (blue core)
403-520 whip dipole
800 1/2 wave (red core)
800 1/4 wave (white core)
Not sure if it helps or how current it really is.

Re: 5100 UHF vs 800 antenna
I just got one of these antenna's it says Motorola 800 on it and it has a red ring inside (I got it off a e-bay dealer) it is a VHF wide band I did check it out on VHF and on 800 (800 sucks) even though it looks like a UHF whip. ( I did confirm from the dealer that it was indeed VHF).
