RPI for 5300

Post by X50 »

The EFJ Accessories catalog shows 023-5300-000 as the RPI for PC Configure and 023-5300-001 for PC Tune. Can either software be run on either RPI or are they actually different somehow and PC Tune won't run on a 023-5300-000?

(I see that the USB programming cable, 023-5300-980, won't work with PC Tune.)

Thanks,
Doug

I can't explain the numbering difference, but I can tell you that the only difference between the -000 and the -001 RPI is that the -001 is for dual core cpu's. If you don't have a dual core the -000 will work fine. If you do have a -000 RPI and a dual core CPU you can still use the -000 RPI but you will need to use a USB-Serial converter. They recommend Keyspan because it has the RS485 driver built in whereas some of your cheaper ones don't. (i.e. belkin, etc...)

And you are correct, the USB cable will NOT work with PCTune.

Thanks for the info.

Is there any down side to using the -001 with a single core processor?

No. It is backward compatible.
