5300 Control Head

Can the control head from a 242-9653 or 242-9655 (900 MHz radios) be used on a 5300? They look identically outwardly.

The components are essentially the same but the software that drives the head are completely different, there for they are not interchangeable.

Oh well... It's too bad since the 900 radios are available pretty cheaply.
