EFJ 242-5326-271 programming cable

Post by vsp5151 »

I read all the posts I can find on the efj 5326 series radio and I really didn't find an answer to this. I have one I want to program for VHF amateur frequencies including some using P25. What seems to be the best and most economical programming cable to use for this? I will be using a Dell XP computer with a comm port (not using a usb to db9 adapter).

I am surprised no one has replied?

The kawamall cable from eBay for $24.95 seems to be the best economical buy right now.

RF Guys sell a cable for the 5300 series. I have had good luck with the RF Guys cable for the HHC.

I've designed a little circuit for programming the 5300 which lets you do either firmware updates or lets you program the radio with PCC. I'm waiting on a PCB place to deliver some boards but I'm planning on selling them for $50 to start with. Check out refurbatron on facebook for a pix of the prototype I wired up to test the circuit. Its the picture with the ceramic Cat holding the board (Which is like 5x larger then the final one will be) It will have some extra connections so you can plug in a logic analyzer if you want to reverse engineer the actual data being sent back and forth.

If you want one? Send me a PM. My circuit is "glitch" free so you shouldn't see any random PARM errors. *Knock on wood.
