P25 Slow Squelch

Post by jimmy »

Hello

I recently acquired a version 1 VHF 5100 and have noticed, when receiving on a digital channel, the squelch seems a little slower to open than my Astro Saber. Is this normal, or is there a setting somewhere that could be affecting this? The receive audio is good, but I often miss the first .25 - .5 seconds of a transmission, as the receive indicator lights, but the squelch doesn't open immediately. Thanks for your help.

One of the field service notes talked about the firmware being for the express purpose of speeding something up so the squelch would open a bit faster. Depending on the Series and Version I notice a slight delay in P25 but I don't think I've seen it chop off the first word. Which maybe due to me waiting a beat before talking? Good luck.
