Help with PC/Rib Cable!

Post by Forts »

Hi folks! I'm hoping someone can help me here. A few years back I bought a Price P96A rib to program an LPE200 that I had and it worked great. I've long since sold the LPE and just recently bought an M-RK to play with. I ordered a new MRK/LPE/Prism programming cable from Price, dusted off the P96A and I'm kinda stuck at this point. When I hook up the radio to the rib it shows 'PC PROG' on the display, and the power led starts flashing. When I plug in the ethernet/db9 combo that goes to the PC, the Flash led also comes on. Now, when I go into Programmer (Windows version 6) and try to read the radio I get an error saying the radio cannot be initalized. I've tried 3 different PC's so I don't think that's the problem. I'm wondering if it's the cat5/ethernet cable that I'm using from the RIB to the db9 adaptor.

Can anyone give me any pointers here? When I try to read the radio I very briefly see a flicker of the Radio led, but nothing on the Computer led. Would anyone be so kind as to give me a pinout of their hookup? ie DB9 pin 1 to RJ45 pin 6 etc etc.. that way I could rule out a bad cable on my end. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out on this one. Unfortunately I don't have another radio to try either, just a few Motorola's kicking around here. Any help is very appreciated!!!
