IC-F80DT out of band

Post by evilbadperson »

Hi all

I'm seriously looking at grabbing a 400-470MHz Icom IC-F80DT.

How far will one of these go out of band? Most of my operation will be around 407/416MHz, but I absolutely need several 477MHz freqs too.

Any reviews or opinions of this radio would very much be appreciated. I had a little play around with one a while ago and fell in love with it, but I haven't heard anything about these radios from anyone who actually owns one.

TIA.

Well if its like my F70DT it will be great. Last I knew they had not released the F80 to my recolection.... But then again I only play with the P25 version. My F70DT (P25) has freqs from 136 all the way up to 173 mhz and they all work great.

My F4S and F4GT both are 440-470 split and easily work down to 432MHz and as high as 475 with no degredation haven't pushed them further than that though.

How did you go with this? Did the radio require any modifications to go just out of band or can it do it off the shelf?

Thanks
