TK-780 Canadian/European version programming

Post by k9ij »

Picked up a TK-780-1 at Dayton. It lights up 'unprogrammed'. The standard programming software (49D) says 'check model number' when I try to read the radio.

Programming tech at the shop says Kenwood support says it's a Canadian or European version that needs a different programmer. (and of course they won't sell it to us in the US).

Anybody have any clues/tricks that would let me program this radio? Thanks

I find that hard to believe....Kenwood is not as bad as motorola with the programming regions.
I suspect an other problem.

HI,

for the Europeen Version you have to use KPG-60 Software (Windows-Based)
It should work then.

I am from europe, live in the Netherlands. Just bought a unprogrammed TK-780 to. I have the progam KPG-60D but can't get it to work. It needs one thing more to get it to work.

Can someone help me out with this.

Something makes me think that you can't "read" and unprogrammed radio. You just create the file with the freqs and such that you want, then just "write" to the radio.

You have to select the correct model of radio from the menu, though.
