tk-730/830 Squelch adjustment

Post by beaujo_fire »

Can someone tell me where and how I can adjust the squelch on these radios. One of them, the 830, is really loose. I looked thru the software (kpg7d) and could not find anything software related so I am guessing I either missed it or it is only hardware adjustable. If that is the case, can someone tell me how to find the adjustment pot.

Thanks

It's a hardware adjustment. There's a pot on the top board (if I remember right, it's back and to the left a bit). It is marked SQ or squelch.

For some reason, the squelch control on the 30 series never seemed to have much range and even tightened all the way up they usually open at .2 uV.

With my 730 & 830 with the KCH-4 control heads one of the soft keys is programmed for squelch (SQL). If the radio is scanning lock it on one channel. You then press the SQL key, and the display will read (code ##). Rotate the right hand knob and this number will go up or down, setting the squelch level.
