TK-380 signaling question

Post by securitymikey »

Hello. Does anyone know if you can put an after market type MDC1200 signaling board in the TK-380? The Fleetsync is great and all but there are some channels that I must use MDC1200 only on. Would like to do the same for my TK-880 but the portable is the one I use most.

No I don't believe so. The option board is not available for that radio. However if you get a TK3180 then you can get the MDC1200 board. I currently have one and it works great. The only down fall is you have to choose if you want MDC or Fleetsync you can't have both working on the same radio.

The TK-3180 is a full sized radio. It's about the most top-of-the-line you can go with Kenwood without going P25.

You're probably thinking of the TK-3173.

Yes, you can put an external ID board such as a Cimarron or Midian in the TKx80 and TKx180 series of radios. We do it all the time.
