TK-780H-1 refuses to display Fleetsync info

Post by moshari_3 »

Hi all, hopefully someone can suggest what I've missed.

I'm having trouble getting a recently purchased TK-780H-1 to display any received FleetSync ID info even just the number refuses to show up on the radio display.
It does send it's own ID without issue as my 7160 & 7360 can display the info from the 780 correctly as well as each others ID info.

I am using KPG-49D Ver 4.02 to program the 780.
The Kenwood Logo above the power switch is Orange so I believe it is ver 2 radio.

I have the following settings for FleetSync:
Optional Features 1 > Display Character = Channel Name
Optional Features 1 > Signalling = OR
Optional Features 1 > Off Hook Decode is selected
Optional Features 2 > PTT ID Type = FleetSync
Optional Features 2 > PTT ID = EOT
FleetSync > Fleet(Own) = 100
FleetSync > ID(Own) = 1100
FleetSync > Unit ID Encode Block is blank
FleetSync > FleetSync Baud Rate (bps) = 1200
FleetSync > Message Mode Timer (sec) = 300
FleetSync > Emergency Status Response = None
FleetSync > Manual Dial is selected
FleetSync > Inter-fleet Call is selected
FleetSync > PTT ID Side Tone is Selected
FleetSync > Caller ID Stack is selected
FleetSync > Caller ID Display is selected

Not sure what else I can include to be helpful.

Any suggestions on what I may have missed greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The version 1 80 series will not show the "caller ID" on fleetsync. Version 1 radios have the kenwood name over the power button white, not orange.

Is this a Version 1 or Version 2? Only Version 2s will display the ID.

It says VER 2.0 on the label on the back.

Just noticed that you have the ID set to EOT. I Could never get it to display with EOT; had to use BOT.

Hi John,

Thanks for the suggestion & apologies for taking so long to try it out.

You are correct, if I set the sending radio to send it's ID BOT the receiving TK-780 V2.0 does actually show the ID.
Odd considering that the 780 has options available for EOT as well as BOT.

Unfortunately I can only reprogram my personal radios for BOT option & not those owned by others that I really want to display the ID from.

So I guess now I'm looking for the setting that allows the radio to decode EOT sent ID's or is there a Firmware update that fixes this?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Regards Frank.

Hi, sorry for some reason my reply never got posted???
So I'll try again.

You were right KI4LTX.

If the sending radio is set for BOT the 780 does display caller ID details.

There must be a way to get the 780to display when EOT is used.
Any suggestions anyone?

Frank,

Sorry for the late reply. I only make it here every so often.
BOT is the only way have come upon to have the ID display. Perhaps others have better advice.
