I am trying to program a tk790h and the software tells me to check the com port, however the com ports in the software are greyed out.
First, is there a 'mode' the radio needs to be in to program. Second, yes, i have the right software and cable, witch brings up a second issue, on a second other radio, a 709h-g the mic plugs into a rj=44 outlet not the round muti-pin that is on the one I am working on.
oh yeah, using a newer laptop with usb-to serial adapter, after research, it appears that is the issue, but wanted to check here
So, help!
anyone tell me what the G stand for? thanks

Re: tk790h issues
Hello,
The radio is placed into the program mode by the computer when you connect.
USB-Serial adapters are not all the same, I had to buy three before I found one that would work.
I searched the Kenwood Yahoo groups, found some posts from people with the same problem.
I purchased an adapter recommended by one of the posters on the group..
Hope this helps
