Overwriting and MTL as an MPA

I am attemoting to over write an MTL as a MPA and keep getting "Incorrect radio type" message, is there any way around this??

Unfortunately not, the controller on the MTL is hard coded as a 16 channel MTL radio only if it is a VHF which 99% of them were.

If it was a MTL900 or 900 GENET MTL then you could hamflash it or reflash it with MPA firmware and go that route. I just went thru the exact same problem as you are and I did have a spare MPA -628 style controller that was hamflashed and swapped with the original MTL controller but unfortunately it has a problem with CTCSS so I haven't been able to get my MTL converted to a 100%useable MPA, it receives and tx's fine but no CTCSS yet.

Thanks, I finally gave up anyway and ripped the MTL controller out and put in a spare MPA controller.
