I recently purchased a GE Monitor Receiver from the estate of a man
who was an offical with a local fire department. The radio is
cosmetically in excellent condition, and I have a few questions about
it that I hope someone in this group may be able to answer.
It is a solid state 2 crystal channnel radio.
Both crystals are marked the same:
19B206
221 PI
47810.000 Khz.
The crystals have 3 leads coming from them.
It is currently receiving 154.130. The voice reception is pretty garbled and difficult to understand. I have a handheld scanner next to tthe GE and it receives the same frequency loud and clear.
The radio model is NSO 6MDV 66
FCC Receiver Data ER-52-A
Ship Sate 732
Are crystals available anywhere for this radio anymore if I wanted to
change frequencies to 155.250 and 154.370. Is the radio worth getting repaired? Is there anyone who still repairs this radio?
It really looks good, and I would hate not to get it going again if it
was possible.
Any info or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

First, it sounds like the receiver is off frequency. It should be a simple matter to tweek it back to where it belongs. If you need to get new crystals, there are a number of places you can order them from. Internation Crystal, Sentry Manufacturing, Bomar and a few others. You may want to find someone local to you that will work with you.
