Has Vertex's policy on software changed recently?
Tried to get a copy of the VX-420 software from tech support to poke around since we are considering buying some and they will only give it to registered dealers.

Yep... It's the same with the service manuals too. You should be able to buy the CD from Vertex (as they sell it as an "accessory") but if you might be able to find a nice dealer who would download it for you for free. The policy I've usually found is I can get the software for free if I've ordered the radio or board that it goes too.
