Tk-290 firmware problem

Post by azFIREguy »

Last nite I was updateing some 290's. 1 of them was put into the firmware mode and programmed. the radio had a good battery on it and the pc didn't freeze but know the radio will not do anything. When the radio is turned on the display "says program" and when I toggle to the FW version the displays "no sys". Anyone else on across this? If some what was done to fix it.

Hmm, do all the radios have "firmware program" enabled in the personality?

I have had radios glitch during the firmware upgrade process, and then the radio ends up with "half a brain." I'm trying to remember if there's a way to clear the flash EEPROM completely. On a MACOM radio, you can do a "forced recovery" using radio utilities, but I'm trying to remember if there's a similar procedure for Kenwood.

You might want to see about going back a version. Either that or call Kenwood and see what they say, you may have "BRICKED" it.

I was able to go back to the version before and restore this radio.
