These radios are not FCC approved. They were originally made for the European market. The software is KPG-20D and tke programming cable is KPG-8. The software is out on the net. Programming cable can be had on EBAY. Their is a Yahoo group that is devoted to this radio and it's HT partner the TK349. The group is TK9s.
I FINALLY found the software on eBay that was combined with most of the other KPG programming sets. I can't, however, find the KPG-8 for sale, or even a pin-out diagram for it.
I did find one message posted a little over four years ago from a guy that said he had the pin-out for the KPG-4, KPG-8, and KPG-22... I sent him an email asking for them, but I'm not sure if that email address is still valid.
Several years ago, I had the Kenwood TK-809D. I just purchased five TK-809Ts and I wonder what the difference is?? What little I can find on the net just refers to them as the TK-809.

TK-809T
The TK-809T is 438-470 MHz radio. The software to program it is KPG-20D. I f you need a programing cable, look at ebay. The seller is kawamall, the part #T0D0F21. I have used his cable on the Kenwood TK840, TK-809T, and the TK349.
