I was curious if the TK-820 radio (I think this is a mobile) has the capabilities of working in the ham bands?

The TK-820 will cover 440 amateur frequencies with reprogramming / retuning / alignment, provided it is not in the 470+ mhz split.

Yes, quite easy with programming and alignment. I have a number of
tkr-720 and tkr-820 repeaters operating into the ham bands. email
me direct if you have specific questions.
