730/830 low power?

Post by rwo978 »

See in the spec sheet that there is an option to program the decks for low power. Anyone know how this is done? Button for low power? Per channel low power? Different programming version? Different firmware?

I looked thru the programming on the computer yesterday for 15 minutes and couldn't find that option.

It is not programable, but is adjustable by the power control. I am sure you could mugwump the aux button to switch in some addtl circuit in the power control.

So how exactly would one do this? Is it something that needs to be adjusted indie the radio? or is it external? Per channel or entire radio?

Ryan,

Yes it is adjusted inside the radio. I can't remember which POT it is right now, but I'm sure someone on here does. I will look tonight when I get home.

I'm not familiar with this model but I would look for ways to set up a Hi/low button or assign low power to the channel...adjusting the pot will decrease/increase output power on all channels, remember only using the power you need is courteous to everyone. Cheers

It is not possible to adjust the power via a button or with a per channel setting. Sorry, but I have tried.

As stated above, it is possible. The power control is a varable resistor,if you knew the resistance you needed for the power level you desired, the aux button could be used to switch in that resistor.
It would take some circuit board work and a little time. You would have to really want that feature to justify the work involved.
Easiest way would be two pots,a switching transistor or 2(or even a relay) and an active low from the AUX circuit, then set one pot for high and the other for your desired level.
good luck!

This would/could be a permanent fix, as I don't need 100+ watts, just the G for narrowband.

Anyone know the location of the "pot" to turn down. Diagram/pics would work best, or the # on the board (ie - W107, W103)?
