PCS Situation

Some of you may have seen my plea for a new portable in the for sale/wanted section. Well it's because my PCS (PC216S) decided to take an unscheduled leave. Out of nowhere, no less. When I switch it on, all of the display characters come on, it beeps once (should beep 3 times) and just freezes. All of the display characters just stay on, and the radio will not respond to any input. I didn't drop it, haven't had a program cable hooked up to it in years, and the battery is perfect. Just all of a sudden, it froze up. Any ideas of what may have caused it and how to fix it? I still need a new radio in the meantime for work, but I would like to eventually see the PCS in service again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
