Re: Firmware-PCConfig Decode

Normally, options, tune values and programming does not change. In fact, this is why *if* ever you upgrade to a such a newer firmware version that the internal file format version changes, you need to read the file into the newer PCConfigure and write it back to the radio to include the newer fields...

Re: POLL === You like yours EFJ 5100 Series radio? ===

Until now, how many organisations, such as Police, Fire Department, using EFJ 5100 series? As I feel that most of them using /\/\ products. :) :) You are absolutely right. How many /\/\icrosoft products are out there on the desktop vs Linux or OSX? It does not negate the ligitimacy of two other pow...

Why did I get the feeling like I was going to be corrected? ;-)

Anyone else's input is welcome.

Re: POLL === You like yours EFJ 5100 Series radio? ===

Here's my assesment vs the /\/\ XTS2.5k / XTS5k, since it seems that this poll wants to compare the two brands. Motorola make great radios and have the $$ to invest creating their own proprietary comunication protocols. They have also set the bar for the standard in digital, trunking, portable radio...

Re: Keypad Programming Problem

The only the text/label changing keypad programming can alter is the channel name (on newer firmware versions).

Re: What does a 5300 go for on used market?

As jim202 said. You must power one up and read the display. There are two sets of numbers. The first one is the firmware version of the display head. The second is the radio fw version.

Re: 5100 switch problem

It sounds like a bad switch. Looks like there's a short (moisture?), shielding or grounding problem inside the switch that acts as if the channel selector is being turned when in the B position or C position. I'm pretty sure both the selector and ABC collar are on the same switch body. I doubt that ...

Re: 5100 keyloader the easy way

Hey Medic, I have the Hirose (NTN 8613A) one, but it also doubles as a surveillance speaker/mic adapter and it has a TTL chip on it so I didn't want to hack that one up by harvesting pins off other connectors. I've never seen any of the adapters have all the pogo-pins (or push-pins) fully populated ...

I only wish I could make it. It's an 8 hour drive from here, but I'm in the middle of (costly) renovations. D'OH!

Re: 5100/5300 USB Cables

Nice. I've had flawless results using the generic Prolific Technology USB-to-Serial adapters with the EFJ serial cables that you can buy for about $10. There are TONS of companies using that chip in their cables/adapters.

Do you know what price point the new USB cables are at?
