i recently picked up one of these radios used.
i have learned field programming but find it limited.
i have a yaesu ft 2900 and its field for freq and also alphanumeric.
im looking for a schematic to build a cable and software.
this seems like a nice radio and i would like to play a bit with it.
any help would be appreciated.
i would be willing to also purchase if anyone has the cable unused laying around but more fun to do myself.

or i suppose i should have asked is there a way to field program in alphanumeric names without a data cable?

It's cheaper to buy the cable likely than it is to make it. Then can be had for under $20 on eBay and sometimes under $10. I have the field programming manual, but have barely looked at it since I got the cable and software. I can send it to you if you want.
