Kenwood TK 830

Post by radio259 »

 I can get into program mode. but that is it. Using pentium 2 processor on the laptop, and have tried pure dos and windows dos. No luck.

It keep telling me I have model mismatch. Do I need to start by reading the radio, and not telling the software what type, dual head, uhf ect???

Could be my cheap e-bay purchased cable is kaput!!

Even tried different port speeds. I even get model mismatch if I unplug the programming cable.

Any help greatly, and I mean greatly appreciated.

when I was having issues programming our tk880's it turned out to be the power supply wasnt putting out enough amperage, apparently the mobiles need to be connected to a power supply that puts out 11 amps continuous.

I have had a go round with this before and found that using the aftermarket cable that the pins in the mic jack of the radio had lifted up and become unaligned in the slots provided. remove your mic,get a good light, and ck for proper alignment of spring contacts in mic jack socket..

Are you using SP tune mode to enter ham freqs by chance? If so it will say model mismatch. Just ignore the error and proceed.

 For what ever reason, I still do not know, I reached over and started the vehicle. Problem solved!! Voltage sensitive on programming. I called the radio shop we use and work with for Kenwood support. Got a "Oh yah!! I remember that now."

Still cannot get the tk 290 read or programmed.
