TK-730 (G)/not (G)
I picked up a radio sold as a TK-730(G) which included the (KCH-4?) 12 digit alphanumeric front panel. The FCC ID shows ALHTK730-1 rather than ALHTK-730G-1. However when I program a wide/narrow band program it seems to work OK. I've only tested it across the room with a handheld, and bounced it off a narrow band repeater, and am not sure. it will work. Is it possible someone has upgraded the radio to (G) specs internally?
You should have read the radio before programming it. It would have picked what model it is on it's own. I also don't remember if it will let you send a W/N program into a radio that isn't W/N. I would think it will tell you "Model Mismatch" but I've never tried.
You aren't going to be able to tell by "bouncing off a repeater". You would need to actually talk and listen to hear a difference. Either that or you need a service monitor.
