TK-330 Alphanumerics Issue

Post by d119 »

Group -
Having trouble with this one. I've got a UHF TK-330 100 channel unit I bought on eBay. Works great. When I got it, it had alphanumeric channel names programmed into it.

I've since reprogrammed the radio (it's set up as a 16KEY100AN unit like it originally was), but I cannot get the alphanumeric names to display. All I get is G1 C1 A (group 1 channel 1 add), and soforth.

I'm using a PC with a factory programming cable, and KPG-11D Version 1.25. Everything works except the alpha. I know this radio HAS alpha, because it was displaying it when I got it.

If I read the file back into the PC from the radio after I program it, the alpha names are not there. It's almost like the radio is not accepting them or is just blanking them out.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

How odd. Send me a copy of the file you are programming into the radio. conn27(at)comcast.net and I'll look at it. I have tinkered with a few 230 and 330's and have not seen that problem.

I'll see what I can do about that. In talking with a good friend of mine who was a Kenwood tech for a long time, he said it might be an issue with the radio being set up as a TK330SP and not a TK330SC.

I'll see about getting the file to you, WNF. Anyone else have any thoughts?
