tk-890 help

Post by n8uxf »

can anyone tell me how to put a tk 890 into program mode
or will the software detect it
I have the kenwood cable and the 44d software
Also wondering if the different versians of 44d would make a difference
pertaining to the firmware of the radio
Thanks

The 90-Series does not require user input to go into programming. As soon as you hit read or write, it will do it on it's own.

The older but similar 30 series required programming mode.

Firmware

Post by dmonty83 »

If you are upgrading the firmware of the radio, I do believe that you have to hold down a button during a power cycle. I havn't done a firmware upgrade to a 90 series, but if it is like the 150 series I imagine you will need to do teh same thing.

Yes, there's definite pushing of buttons if youre upgrading firmware; plus the firmware upload capability must be enabled in the radio personality. For ordinary programming, though, there's no need to put the radio into program mode.
