TK-790

Post by cfd1736 »

Ok, I will be ordering my TK-790 soon and I have a question. Has anyone used the AUX A, B, C buttons on the full function control head to trigger relays that control emergency lights? I thought about do that due to the limited space I have for working with in a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. Your thoughts and recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi...I have seen the aux key setup to run a siren. It was hooked up to the "hands free" feature of the siren. This was do to limited space. It seems to work ok. I imagine you should have good results with warning lights.

Good Luck

It should work fine, but I'd be gentle with the Aux outputs. They'll only source or sink a certain amount of current, and you definitely want to install spike protection diodes across the coils if you're driving relays. The 90 series does have a back to back diode array across each line, along with a 1K resistor in series, so you should be pretty well protected, but I'd use the smallest relays I could get away with.
