TK-830 programming for PA

Post by toyradios »

Hi - I just picked up a TK830 from Ebay and was wondering if anyone know how to program one of the buttons on the advance control-head to operate in PA (public address) mode ?

Regards

In the software select edit then key selection menu. You can assign PA to any key.

I hate to bump an old thread but the search results brought up nothing but this thread.

Onto the question:

I have a TK-830 as well and I've assigned a key on the control head for the PA function but I don't know where or how to plug up a PA. I was told that I could use a KES-4 external speaker -- like I use for the radio -- as a PA. Would I somehow plug the PA speaker into the white jack/plug thing on the back of the radio next to the power cables? Thanks in advance for any help!

13 and 14? I'm not sure what you mean. I'm guessing I start at the top left and count to the right and down until I count to the 13th and 14th pins and that's where I plug the PA speaker into? Also, will I have to cut the KES-4's plug off and splice the wires into some sort of pins to plug into the radio? I'm not sure how to do this at all.

Yes the 15 pin plug at the rear of the radio....it is a standard Molex connector and the plastic as well as the pins can be had at any decent electronics supply store.

Okay, I have another question. Concerning the positive wire and the negative wire, which goes in pin 13 and which goes in pin 14? And is the wire with the small white stripe the negative? Thanks!

Bump! My TK-730 just arrived and I ordered an additional KES-4 for PA use. The TK-730 came with the manual which shows me the pin layouts for different functions. However, it doesn't say whether or not the positive KES-4 wire goes in pin 13 or pin 14 or vise versa with the negative. Anybody?

Black/white stripe goes to 12,the book does not reference positive or negative, this is a BTL amp,so it actually has a floating ground as referenced to A-,when a speaker is wired correctly, the cone goes toward the magnet on highs.........except sometimes! some of the later Kenwoods do it backwards for acoustic reasons,I am a tech, not a sound guy, alls I know is it works!

So the black/white speaker wire goes to pin 12 and what about the solid black one? And what about pins 13 and 14? I'm confused!

For PA
black/white to pin 14
black to pin 13

For external speaker
black/white to pin 12
black to pin 6
remove jumper thats in pins 9 and 12

sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the info, n5tbu! However, I'm still having trouble. :( I plugged a KES-4 into the back of the radio as instructed but I still get nothing from it in SP mode or PA mode. Anybody have any similar trouble before? Also, I know the KES-4 speaker is in order because I'm using it for the external speaker on the TK-830.

I plugged them in according to the chart in the radio's manual. It said they were the pins in the bottom right corner and the one on top of that.
