The Radio Information Board

I have a 99 ch uhf vertex. The problem is when it picks a signal up, it sometimes stops, or sometimes it stops just enough to get a glimpse of the screen then it is off scanning again. The dwell timer is set to 1 second just like my 99ch vhf. (which works fine). It does this most of the time, which makes the scan useless. Any help?
