Use a dual band antenna.

You can either use two seperate antennas with their own coax to each radio, or you can use a dual-band antenna and a duplexor. The duplexor will combine the antenna feed for each radio into one that goes to the single antenna. They are used very often in ham radio applications but will do the same job here.

The smallest antenna your going to get is probably a 19" VHF 1/4 wave whip. It will be unity gain on VHF

The smallest antenna your going to get is probably a 19" VHF 1/4 wave whip. It's a perfect match for a 3/4 wave UHF antenna. It will be unity gain on VHF and 2.5db gain on UHF.
