I am curious if it is possible to connect a mic to the rear 15 pin connection of a TK 730. I called the local Kenwood dealer and they advised me to wire in a 6 way phone jack and plug the mic cable into it. I have the phone jack box, what kind of cable do I use, and which pins do I use? I have the diagram for the mic cable. Are there any modifications I must make for this to work? I have the remote head mounted in an overhead console and would like to avoid having the mic cord hanging down. thanks

Yes,but if you use a mic on the head too,the element is alway hot.
15 pin plug=6 pin mic jack

5 = 5
2 = 4
8 = 3
15= 2
1 = 6

Excellent, thanks a lot. I have a noise cancelling mic and a standard mic for it, I haven't decided which one to use yet. Does Kenwood sell a noise filter to eliminate the whine from the engine? If so where does it get hooked up to?

Yes they do make a line filter(I forget the part number)it goes between the power leads as close to the radio as possible.
