Using VPL-1 on Yaesus

Post by billy7834 »

Anyone know if I can use my Vertex VPL-1 cable on a Yaesu 2r, 5r, or 7r?

You should be able to. The CT-29A/CT-42A/ADMS cables work great on the VX-4200 commercial and HX370 Marine radios. First try writing to the radio w/o a radio attached and make sure the voltage between data and grond is about 3.6Volts

I'm not sure if there's a 4 conductor type plug adapter for the VPL that will work with the VX160/VX180 or VX410/VX420 but if not it shouldn't be hard to make one.

For the VX-7 you'll need to grind down the 4 conductor adapter so it's skinny enough to fit in the recessed microphone connector.
