Hey what operating system speed etc, works best with the vertex programming software? I just about know I wont be able to use the newer laptops we have and I am thinking from what I have read that I will more than likely have to use a desktop , but what do I need ......I have ordered the programming software and cables for the 180 900 and 3200 series radios

 I am using a Dell with Xp pro fessional. So far no problems. I have not tried the VX10, but no one I know has one any more.

I have a Toshiba pentium 1 for a back up just in case..

Some of the Vertex software is available in both Windows and DOS versions. If you get the Windows version you should have no problem with even the newest computers.

I had an issue with ce39 windows softwear running in win 98se. However it works fine with my laptop with win 2000 pro and my desk top with XP home. so i guess YMMV. Good luck to you.

I have to use three laptops ranging in age and operating systems to program our fleet (including some "M" equipment)

IBM Thinkpad 350C running MS Dos Shell for:
Vx-210
Vx-210a
Vx-500
Vx-510
Vx-520
FTL-7001 (99 ch. mobile)
GP-300
P1225

Toshiba 490CDT running Win95 for:
Vx-160 (the majority of our fleet)
Vx-210a
Vx-410
VX-510
Vx-600
Vx-800
Vx-3200
Vx-4207 (UHF ver.)
Vxr-7000
Vxr-9000

Dell Lattitude D510 running XP Professional for:
VX-4207
Vx-820
Vx-920
VMDE-200

Sometimes have to run the Toshiba via Dos prompt...remember all those DOS commands?
